The Theatre Centre as a building has beautiful vibes. My background poises me to be in synergy with the production and participation happening there already. Multidisciplinary and research-minded, drawing from my background working in music and several other disciplines of artistic study and creation, i want to bring my practice to a place where my skills and vision can enrich a community, and where the project will be helped to flourish not only by material and mentorship resources but by natural synergy in and around the space. The scope of the project will change as it is held in this environment, and that’s exactly the point.
I have been germinating this idea already with a broad cohort of neighbours and mentors. For example, my cousin has greatly helped me focus my intended plot mechanics and will work with me as a research consultant and production designer. The residency would enable me to work with these collaborators on a sustained basis, therefore making the genesis of this project possible when it has not been possible.
A small hoard of written notes outline the scope of the project. Due to housing precarity, many of these are still in storage. Proceeding in the vetting process would give me the opportunity to outline the project for you aurally, circumventing barriers to a more robust written presentation of what i aim to do.
